Fasting and Your Health
If you are in poor health or have concerns about your physical ability to fast, please consult a physician before beginning this fast. Your doctor can provide advice on how you can participate in this fruits and vegetable fast in a way that is healthy for you.
Recommended Foods
° Liquids - Water, fresh natural fruit juices, blended natural fruits (smoothies) herbal tea, low sodium vegetable juice, carrot juice
° Fruits - Fresh, canned in natural juices, dried
° Vegetables – boil, bake, broil or steam. Fresh, canned, frozen
° Beans and lentils -Dried, canned
° Soups- (bean, lentil or vegetable) - low sodium, no sodium, no meat or meat by products
° Fiber and grains - Brown rice, oat, bran, rye, corn
° Cereals - Natural wheat or bran using rice/soy milk
° Breads - Natural grain
° Desserts - Raisins, fruit, dry roasted nuts, iced fruit juice
° Seasonings - Ms. Dash, natural spices, honey, sea salt
AVOID! Fried foods, junk foods, salty foods, adding salt, greasy foods, fast foods, dairy products, eating after 9PM, (except fruits).
Get Plenty of Sleep
Get eight hours sleep – turn off the TV, get off the phone, get off the computer, put down the book (except for devotional reading), turn off the lights and go to sleep!!! Rise up refreshed and ready for morning devotion – Matthew 6:33
Start Exercising
Exercise for at least 30 minutes, two or three times a week – walking and/or walking the stairs, running, aerobics, tennis, basketball, swimming, racquetball, jumping rope, bicycling, weightlifting, calisthenics - JUST DO IT.
Increase Your Time With God Read the bible, devotionals and listen to Christian radio
